Must-Read Recommendations

I just finished the fifth book in Joel C. Rosenberg’s Last Jihad series. Wow. I love to read Christian fiction, but this feels real. It takes current world events in light of ancient Biblical prophecy and tells a page-turning thrillers I could hardly put down.

The Last Jihad (Political Thrillers Series #1) – click here. (1st of 5)

The Third Target (1st of 2 written so far, 3rd to be published in a few months) – click here

Auschwitz Escape- not a series but an incredible story you just can’t put down- click here

I highly recommend his books! I’ve read 11 of his fiction books so far and have yet to be disappointed!

15 years- 15 funnies

Daniel and I celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary last week by remembering 15 of our funniest memories over the past 15 years. Thought I’d share them with you-

  1. The heavenly fart (be careful when you pray for God to bring laughter/joy)
  2. Driving our car that continually honked with every left turn
  3. Forgetting a frozen pizza in the trunk, taking months to find “that smell”
  4. Learning to co-habitate (he’s neat, I’m messy… first time I folded towels he re-folded them all – AND sorted stripes/solids!)
  5. Random vacation one day going to train station (we lived in Korea) and taking the next train to wherever… ended 5 hours later with the only hotel not recognizing American credit cards, singing kareoke “Johnny Boy” with a local, hiking in the snow to find monks at the top of the mountain, finding a delicious Snicker bar after dinner of fish head soup…
  6. The “road of death” (Maui, mountain one side, ocean the other, single lane, another car trying to pass… I jumped out of the car before I even realized it I was so scared- leaving Daniel alone driving the car…)
  7. Buying our first home just so we could finally paint walls… then every room was brightly painted including cloth-like denim painted patterns… then couldn’t sell that place until it was all neutral again)
  8. Taking Tae Kwon Do together- having to run a lap with Daniel on my back
  9. Suntan lotion gone wrong… handprints … ‘nuf said
  10. Disaster of first attempt at family devotion (while one son distracted us the other was found literally stuffing his face with about 8 warm cookies at once)
  11. Moving a piano literally around the world, 6 moves, most notably out the window of our 13th floor apartment and later pushing it across the parking lot from one apartment to another with a broken wheel
  12. Getting a rental Jeep stuck on the beach in Kauai, I was enthralled by the prettiest sunset I’d ever seen and didn’t understand the stress… thankfully a local towed us out
  13. Canasta. We got so competitive the loser actually “won” a massage to try to restore the relationship.  To this day we can’t play it for long.
  14. Great deal on a Family vacation to Myrtle Beach cruising along in our minivan not realizing it was officially Black Biker Week.
  15. A bicyclist literally riding right between me and Daniel in the middle of our wedding, calling out, “congratulations!!!!”

We had so much fun looking back on these- thanking God for giving us each other, and holding our marriage together even during harder seasons- i love that God enables us to laugh at ourselves.
